Lean Quote: The Power of Small Gains – Daily Improvement in Lean Leadership

On Fridays I will post a Lean related Quote. Throughout our lifetimes many people touch our lives and leave us with words of wisdom. These can both be a source of new learning and also a point to pause and reflect upon lessons we have learned. Within Lean active learning is an important aspect on this journey because without learning we can not improve.

“Get a little bit better every single day.” – Brian Tracy

Continuous improvement does not require dramatic change. In fact, the most sustainable improvements are often small and incremental. Brian Tracy’s quote captures the essence of this idea.

Small improvements are easier to implement, less disruptive, and more likely to be sustained. Over time, they accumulate into significant gains.

For Lean manufacturing leaders, the focus should be on creating opportunities for daily improvement. This includes encouraging employees to identify small problems and take action to resolve them.

Leaders should also recognize and celebrate these small wins. This reinforces the importance of continuous improvement and builds momentum.

Consistency is key. Improving a little bit every day may not seem significant in the short term, but over time, it leads to substantial transformation.

The power of continuous improvement lies in its simplicity. By focusing on small, daily gains, organizations can achieve lasting success.
